General Information about Arthritis

The general information about arthritis is that it is a disease that be degenerative in nature and there more than one hundred different types of this condition. The symptoms that are common for people suffering from this disease are inflammation in the joints, pain, swelling and stiffness, along with limited movement.
These symptoms are because arthritis involves the breakdown of cartilage, which protects the joints that usually allows the joints to move smoothly and absorbs shock when pressure is put on the joint to protect it. When the cartilage is destroyed the bones of the joint rub together causing pain and inflammation, which then causes stiffness. Over time this stiffness can cause limited movement of the joint.
The inflammation from arthritis can be caused by an autoimmune disease, a broken bone, general wear and tear on the joint that comes with age, or infection that is usually bacterial or viral in nature.
